A U.S. appeals court has temporarily halted the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) order requiring Delta and Aeromexico to unwind their joint venture by January 1. The airlines sued to block the decision, citing irrecoverable costs. Delta praised the court’s pause, while Aeromexico confirmed the venture will remain active during legal proceedings. The DOT had called the partnership “legalized collusion,” citing its control over 60% of Mexico City flight operations. Delta argued the Trump administration is applying stricter standards than for rival airline alliances. The case follows broader U.S. moves challenging Mexico’s aviation practices.
