Law firm faces sanctions over misuse of AI

Sanctions may be implemented against lawyers from Morgan & Morgan after a motion cited a number of nonexistent cases, with artificial intelligence (AI) thought to have been used to generate some of them. In a statement, Morgan & Morgan and the Goody Law Group said: “This matter comes with great embarrassment and has prompted discussion and action regarding the training, implementation and future use of AI within our firm. This serves as a cautionary tale for our firm and all firms, as we enter this new age of artificial intelligence.” Above the Law founder David Lat commented: “Moral of the story: Lawyers at large firms can misuse ChatGPT as well as anyone.”
