West Virginia’s attorney general, JB McCuskey, has filed a lawsuit against Apple, accusing the company of enabling the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) via its iCloud service. The lawsuit claims Apple failed to implement necessary tools to detect such material, prioritizing user privacy over child safety. McCuskey stated: “These images are a permanent record of a child’s trauma.” Apple denied the allegations, asserting its commitment to user safety. The lawsuit seeks damages and demands Apple enhance its measures to combat CSAM.
