Eric Stelly has filed a lawsuit against McDonald’s following an E. coli outbreak linked to the chain’s Quarter Pounder, which has resulted in one death and numerous illnesses across the U.S. Stelly, who experienced severe symptoms after eating at a McDonald’s in Greeley, Colorado, claims negligence and product liability in his 10-page lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court. He stated, “Never did I expect to suffer like this from eating a burger,” expressing hope that the lawsuit will prompt McDonald’s to address safety issues. The outbreak has affected 10 states, with 49 reported cases, leading McDonald’s to remove the Quarter Pounder from several locations. The lawsuit seeks over $50,000 in damages and aims to hold McDonald’s accountable for the alleged breach of consumer trust.
