In a significant fundraising effort, Vice President Kamala Harris garnered over $27.4m from legal professionals between August and September, as reported by the Federal Election Commission. Notable contributions include $250,000 each from Faiza Saeed of Cravath and Rodge Cohen of Sullivan & Cromwell, alongside a $25,000 donation from Paul Weiss chairman Brad Karp. The influx of support for Harris contrasts sharply with former President Donald Trump’s campaign, which has seen dwindling contributions from lawyers. As noted: “Lawyers who support Trump are worried about repercussions,” highlighting the growing divide in legal backing for the two candidates. Historically, lawyers have favored Democratic candidates, and this trend continues as Harris outpaces Trump in fundraising efforts.
