Generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) is poised to revolutionize the legal profession, but a significant trust gap remains between its potential and current acceptance. According to the LexisNexis Investing in Legal Innovation Survey, while 37% of senior lawyers report their firms use AI tools, only 25% trust them for legal work. Building this trust is crucial for AI adoption. Law firms can enhance confidence by rigorously testing AI tools and adopting a responsible, ethical, and measured (REM) approach. Despite some skepticism due to AI inaccuracies, increased hands-on experience and careful integration tailored for legal use are expected to drive wider acceptance, with 90% of lawyers planning to boost AI investments in the next five years.
