Big Law shows renewed enthusiasm for Kamala Harris

Big Law lawyers have shown renewed enthusiasm for Kamala Harris, believing that she will protect the rule of law and maintain stability in financial markets. Brad Karp, the chair of Paul Weiss, has sent an email to nearly 300 lawyers calling for support for Harris, generating an enthusiastic response. Senior figures at Cravath and DLA Piper are also mobilizing their colleagues for the Democrat cause. The fundraising efforts for Harris’s presidential campaign have been led by several Big Law firms, including DLA Piper, Skadden Arps, Meagher & Flom, and Latham & Watkins. However, some firms, like Kirkland & Ellis and Jones Day, which previously supported Trump, have not shown support for Harris. Silicon Valley has also shown support for Harris, with over 100 venture capitalists pledging their support. Karp’s email indicates a coordinated effort to raise funds and address potential legal issues over the next 100 days. Former Alabama senator Doug Jones and other Black lawyers groups are planning a launch call in support of Harris. Former DOJ officials and major law firm chairs have also endorsed Harris. Karp plans to organize events with Harris and other surrogates in the coming weeks and months.
